I admit to being late on the mystery collectible trend. It took me a little while to “get it,” but a couple years ago my fella got me a Munny. It’s still pristine on a shelf, but while cruising YouTube for inspiration I got sucked into a day’s worth of mystery-mini unboxing videos. My brow furrowed at the grown men opening hundreds of wee little boxes while announcing “OK I now have…. six, wait no, seven of this dude.” And then one day I arbitrarily bought a blind box figure and felt that rush when I tore into the package and realized I had picked, as if by superpower, a packet containing the exact little dude that I wanted in the first place. My hunger is now insatiable.
My point? I need to borrow a couple hundred bucks because I’m just gonna have to order a few boxes of these wildly cute Funko “Game of Thrones” Mystery Mini Figures. The set numbers 15 figures, is comprised of some fan favorites, and each measures approximately 2.5 inches tall. Included characters are Robb, Arya, and Ned Stark, Jon Snow, Ghost, Shaggy Dog, Jamie and Tyrion Lannister, Khal Drogo, Danaerys, a White Walker, Joffrey Baratheon, and Drogon, Rhaegal, and Viserion. It looks like Drogon and Jamie are the rarest, occurring once in every 144 packs.
The figures will hit retail shelves on February 15, 2014, and will retail from $6.99-$7.99. They’re available for pre-order now at the HBO online store. And make sure to check Big Shiny Robot! on Sunday when we’ll be able to share the first trailer for season four of “Game of Thrones.” Anybody else so excited for House Martell they could squee like a tween? No? Just me?
