Day two of the great Marvel freakout brings us this news: Drew Goddard, he of the Cabin In The Woods, and various episodes of Buffy and Angel has left the much anticipated Daredevil TV series that was targeted for Netflix release in 2015.
This news coming, as it does, so closely on the heels of the Edgar Wright/Ant-Man announcement from yesterday is troubling. Marvel Studios has been on a great run. One in which they seem to have been that awesome guy on the High School Football team that everyone liked and expected to win every game. Now they are starting to seem more like that Defensive Back on the team that beat up all the cool brainy guys and forced the cheerleaders to do their homework, only to get a barely passing C- grade in Business Math class because they never practiced the 10 Key calculator which comprised 85% of the class final.
The news is still rumor since there has been no official acknowledgement and was reported by the always semi-dependable more often than not Latino Review:
More bad news this holiday weekend. According to sources, award winning writer/director Drew Goddard has left Marvel’s Daredevil. Due to the fact that it is a holiday, calls to his reps at UTA can’t be returned till Tuesday at the earliest. Goddard was supposed to write and direct the first episode of Daredevil, while also serving as series Showrunner and Executive Producer for the 13-episode series premiering on Netflix in 2015.
At least Goddard has The Amazing Spider-Man 2 sequel, The Sinister Six movie, to look forward to making.
Please now discuss amongst yourselves.
