Fan X: Patrick Stewart Panel

Sir Patrick Stewart was a last-minute, surprise addition to the celebrity roster at Salt Lake Comic Con: FanXperience, but his appearance was definitely one of the highlights of the show for many fans. I was fortunate enough to get to attend his panel, and even though his time with us was cut a bit short (only 30 minutes?!), he was an exceptional speaker and one that had the audience completely captivated.

While he didn’t speak much about the “geeky” endeavors he has become known for, it was still incredibly interesting to hear about his new, independent film, “Match” that premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival as well as his work with the UK charity “Refuge” that helps battered women escape their dangerous circumstances and find safety. During the Q&A period, he admitted he doesn’t watch “The Big Bang Theory” or (GASP!) “Game of Thrones”, and he included a funny anecdote about when his good friend Ian McKellen warmly welcomed him into the LGBT community when Stewart was falsely “outed” by a British newspaper.

All in all, we had an incredibly enjoyable time with the Shakespearean actor, and if you weren’t fortunate enough to be able to attend, we are pleased to present the audio of the entire panel below. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
