Video Game Quick Hits

Not a major news week, but still some interesting stories to catch interest.

Driveclub has been an anticipated title since Sony first announced the PlayStation 4. The later reveal that some version of it would be a free launch title for PlayStation Plus may have even been a contributor for many of the 7million+ units sold. However, the title was delayed shortly before the console released. Little has been seen of it since, other than reassurances that it is still incoming and will still have the free component. At long last, a new release date has been revealed – October 7, 2014. It may still be a long way to go, but we at least have a target.

Details for the Watch Dogs Season Pass have been revealed. It will consist of two major chunks and a few smaller pieces. An extra campaign mission will star T-Bone Grady, a dreadlocked hacker from the underground. There is also Conspiracy, an all new game mode. Smaller benefits include skins, weapons, a fedora, etc. In sum, you’ll be getting three single-player and five “packs” for $19.99, a 25% discount over individual purchases. The game drops May 27th.

The May releases for Microsoft’s Games for Gold launched. The month starts with Dust: An Elysian Tale. That will last until the 15th, when Saints’ Row: The Third becomes available for free through the end of the month.

Bioware Montreal’s studio director, Yanick Roy, has given an update on Mass Effect 4. It’s “somewhere in the middle of development.” That doesn’t tell us much, but it does reignite my excitement for one of my favorite franchises. On the other hand, Dragon Age: Inquisition is almost “content complete” says David Gaider of Bioware. That one’s planned for October 7, 2014.

Exciting nerd news in the world of Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes are coming. Clark Gregg joined the Disney team to reveal several characters coming in plans for something more “epic” and with “entirely new experiences.” Announced characters include many of your Marvel Movie favorites and others: Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Loki, MODOK, Captain America, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Nick Fury, Spider-Man, Green Goblin, and the Guardians of the Galaxy. The super heroes and all previous Infinity characters will be compatible with what’s being called Disney Infinity 2.0 Edition. Look for this on pretty much every console released in the last ten years around Fall 2014.

That’s all for this week. See you next Tuesday.
