FIRST LOOK: Darksiders II Crucible Mode

Releasing August 14th, the good folks at THQ and Vigil Games have given us more information relating to Darksiders II with which to spread to the internets. The game will ship with codes for Crucible Mode, which is an arena-based combat mode pitting Death against groups of enemies pulled from the story line. After 5 waves players can choose to accept their reward, or continue one. It goes without saying that the longer you stay in the better the reward. The full set of Crucible levels will be available upon completion of the game, so it’s something you can do while playing bit by bit, or something to do after you’ve finished up.

Darksiders will also feature New Game +, where the player can take everything they earned during their first completion of the game into their second play through. Bosses and baddies will of course become harder so you can continue to level. That second play through will also be crucial in collecting quest items, gaining those ever so important achievements, and of course give you more bang for your buck.

I cannot wait to see August 14th hit, if you haven’t played the Darksiders games, or simply want to replay the first before this new gem graces shelves, you can find the original used for around $17.99 at most local game stores. I highly recommend giving it a go.

Check back August 14th for our full review and video content.
