You read it right folks! We here at Big Shiny Robot feel that giving back is important and every year we find a charity to work for. Last year we raised close to $1000.00 supporting Rescue Rovers, a local Utah adoption group that rescues the cute and cuddlies from shelters and gives them homes! This year we figured we’d move to people puppies, aka children!
Extra-Life.org is a charity that unites gamers in raising money to help hospitals around the world. Gamers can create a team and choose a “Children’s Miracle Network” hospital to benefit. SInce it’s inception it has raised millions of dollars via the 24 hour gaming model. This year people will be playing board games as well as video games. Big Shiny Robot has joined forces with the Extra-Life team “Primary Children’s” and set out on our collective goal to raise as much cash as we can find! We will be streaming the event beginning October 25, 2014 at 8 am Mountain time, until the following morning at 8 am. We’ll be punchy, we’ll be tired, and we’ll be having a great time.
We chose to help Primary Children’s because the money will go to help children like the one in the video below.
Primary Children’s Hospital is a free-standing children’s hospital located in Salt Lake City, Utah. Our 289-bed hospital cares for children with complex illness and injury from across the western United States. Primary Children’s is the only Level I Pediatric Trauma Center serving the intermountain region. Our hospital is part of Intermountain Healthcare, a non-profit healthcare system, and is the pediatric teaching hospital for the University of Utah School of Medicine.
This is a great cause to support and is really easy to get involved in! If you want to help there are three easy things you can do!
