David E. Kelley’s Wonder Woman tv show has been passed around the networks more than a doobie at a Kings of Leon concert. And they all passed. No one wanted it.
That was, of course, until the new executives from Kabletown Comcast took over after the merger with NBC/Universal was approved this week. The new team approved Wonder Woman late today, (apparently after firing Keith Olbermann. . . ) and so it’ll be landing on our tv screens this fall, hopefully along with her invisible jet, golden lasso, etc.
The only clues about what this new Wonder Woman will bring? According to folks who have seen the pilot script, Wonder Woman, aka Diana Prince, fights crime in LA while balancing a hectic career as a successful business executive. Soooo… it’s Ally McBeal meets Smallville? Hopefully with better results. As a business exec, maybe she’ll have a company jet that can turn invisible?
So, engage the conjecture servos, and all speed to fantasy casting! Who should be Wonder Woman? I’ll throw this chum into the water.
BEHOLD: Rachel Bilson, who everyone said was a “lock” to be cast as Wonder Woman in 2006. . .and then that never happened. But there’s still that picture of her from The OC:
Bilson is looking for work, since the same decision that gave Wonder Woman life also passed on the new show Ghost Angels, which would have reunited Josh Schwartz (creator of The OC, Chuck) with Bilson in a starring role in a supernatural thriller. . .zzzzzz. . . Sorry, dozed off there. Oh yes, Wonder Woman:
Who else? I doubt Summer Glau will be sticking around The Cape very long… scratch that: The Cape won’t be sticking around. Eliza Dushku, anyone? An unknown? Sound off in the comments.
