TV: House of Cards Season 2 Drops on Valentine’s Day

If you’re the type of person who dreads the pink hearts and bare-assed cherubs that usually show up with the arrival of Valentine’s Day, then House of Cards is the show for you. There’s no better cure for the Valentine blues than watching a pack of scheming politicians figure out devious ways to betray one another while really sucking at monogamy. To that end, Netflix has announced that season two of their gritty political drama will premiere on February 14th.  As per usual, the release will include all 13 of season two’s episodes—plenty of material to completely kill a day that is dedicated to love and commitment.

If you haven’t watched House of Cards yet, you’re missing out on one of the most terrifyingly good shows out there today. It’s got an amazing cast (Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright, and Kate Mara rip into their Shakespearean roles with brutal intensity), a plotline that hatches insidious plans nested within diabolical ones, and a gut-punch of a season finale.House of Cards proved that, with the exception of Hemlock Grove, Netflix’s original programming could be just as good as anything on cable. Check out the teaser below, in which Claire Underwood refuses to acknowledge your presence.
