Proletaria-tron: Well things are finally shaping up. I’m finally starting to really get interested in what the fuck is going on in season 6. Now I’m just going to straight ignore the whole John Locke alternate life, because he’s still a sad, pathetic man and the one that I care about is dead. Yup remember that folks John Locke is DEAD. That’s not Locke, its “who the hell knows I’m the magic smoke monster”
So we have the ancient god who manipulated the hell out of everyone to murder Jacob walking around with depressed drunk Sawyer, yup I’m interested. This is good shit. Kinda. Because were still not sure whats going on in anyway. One question was half answered. Maybe two. The smoke monster was the dark to Jacobs light. And they are protecting the island…from something. Also, Jacob has been manipulating the lives of everyone who is on the island for a long ass time. What a dick.
I really don’t know what else to say about this one. I think the next episode will add on to it. This is a classic Lost build up episode. We’ve seen em before and usually they pay off. Arse-bot I wont lie…I was deep into a bottle of wine for this one, what’d you think?
Arse-Bot: I know you were deep in a bottle of wine by how many spelling errors I just had to correct on your thoughts. But I respect the hell out of that. Anyway, about LOST…
I thoroughly enjoyed this episode – and unlike my counterpart here, this was the first time I actually thought the alternate time-line story featuring Locke was interesting, though, I still don’t have as much of an attachment to it because as we have said before, these are not the characters we have been following relgiously for six seasons. Over-all though, it was interesting to see Locke’s life play out when he’s not getting all religious and mythical about things going on on a magical island.
As for the main time-line, I couldn’t have been more happy. We all knew that when it was promoted that we were finally going to get all sorts of answers in LOST that is wasn’t going to just happen all at once and it wasn’t going to just be a some dude sitting on screen with a laundry list of mysteries saying “Okay, here’s the answers to all the questions and mysteries we have set up over the last six years.” They are revealing things very little at a time and any fan of LOST probably prefers it this way. Now, while I agree with Proletariatron about “Not Locke” being the dark to Jacob’s light and how there has been some sort of balance struggle for possibly forever, there was one thing he forgot to mention: We finally got some insight to those pesky little numbers of 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, and 42. Each of those numbers were assigned to some of our castaways, for instance, Jack is 23, Locke was 4, etc. And we found out that they are all “candidates” to become the new Jacob, protecting the island from… something. Which also makes a little more sense of Richard’s warning to Sawyer that “Locke” is going to kill him and everyone he cares about – because why after finally killing Jacob would “Locke” want another one to take his place? Seems like he is going to some how exploit Sawyer and his “candidacy” to help him get off the island he has been trapped on for so long.
I think there were a lot of at least half-answers in this episode of LOST if you were paying attention (and not downing a $13 bottle of wine) and I am with Proletariatron, it really feels like LOST is ramping up finally and start giving up some answers!
