The stars aligned on the first day of PBS’s participation in the TV Critics Press Tour. While the Cookie Monster was promoting the 44th (!) season of Sesame Street, Tom Hiddleston happened to be promoting “The Hollow Crown,” and the two joined forces for some of the cutest photos I have ever seen.
PBS joined the Critics Press Tour to promote their fall programming which includes new shows, returning classics, and the first American showing of “The Hollow Crown,” which is like a Shakespeare marathon best-of that consists of four plays: Richard II, Henry IV Part One, Henry IV Part Two, and Henry V, and the cast reads like a who’s who of British Actors that Weren’t in Harry Potter. It will air on September 20, 2013 but make sure to check your local listings because PBS can be kinda sneaky that way.
I’m grateful to PBS in so many ways, not the least for these photos of the future of Shakespearean performance with an icon of classic educational programming. Because of PBS, I learned to speak Spanish when I was four, learned the importance of respect and imagination, but most importantly was around for the Fifth Doctor. You can follow PBS on twitter to learn about their upcoming programming, click here to donate to PBS, and don’t forget Shakespearepalooza on September 20th!
