HyperZord watches TV: Thursday

Thursday Edition Coming At You. Mostly Comedies so we’ll start with Non-comedies

The Apprentice — I mentioned The Apprentice yesterday, I can handle this show when it’s not celebrities, because when it is they make the episodes two hours long and then I just don’t care. But one hour with working people is a much better format. The show works alright, but it’s not very exciting and I don’t care as much as I do with the UK version.

Nikita — I watched most of La Femme Nikita with my mother when it originally aired, so this version does feel weirder. The premise is different too, but the actors are actually trained in fighting so that has something going for it. I’ve gotten about 4 episodes in and it’s had some fun action, for a CW show I’m sure it’ll do just fine.

Burn Notice — Another USA show, this show is basically a nothing show. It’s got okay stars, Bruce Campbell is okay but not used to his full potential, and everything they do doesn’t affect them the next episode. It just follows the over arching storyline which is brought up in the first two and last two minutes of the episode with a monster of the week in the middle. The show is fine, I’ll still watch it, but it has no bearing on anything. It’s like a loaf of bread, you’ll eat it, it’ll taste decent but you never think about how much you crave a dollar loaf of bread.

Now Lots of Comedies from worst to first.

Shit My Dad Says — I love William Shattner, with that being said this is easily the worst thing he’s done. He is the best part of the show but everyone in the show is just plain awful. Will Sasso and Nicole Sullivan are even worse then their time on MAD TV. This show is not funny.

Outsourced — This show is better then I expected but it’s also not great. There are a couple of decent characters, but I just can’t get excited for strange Indian stereotypes.

The Office — To make the comparison of this show versus the UK version isn’t even relevant anymore. They are two very different shows. The US version is just a simple comedy which has funny moments and no real consequences. It’s a funny show and I’ll keep watching it but I don’t expect anything to blow me away. Well besides Creed of course.

30 Rock — This show started out so strong and has dipped down. It’s still got real good moments but it’s just not as clean cut as it used to be. I still watch it every week, but I can see it losing it’s grasp on reality.

The League — A show about a bunch of friends obsessed with their fantasy football league. It’s in it’s second season and it’s much better then it’s first season. They’re starting to figure out what they can do with each character and so it’s a funny show with some good football humor mixed in as well.

The Big Bang Theory — Currently my pick for the second best laugh track comedy on television. The nerdiness this show has is incredible, and the humor taboot is quite good as well. This season isn’t as good as last season, but it’s still a very funny show.

It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia — This season has been phenomenal. It might have the makings of being my favorite season of this show so far. The boat episode had me laughing so hard I start to hurt. There’s an ostrich moment of mack talking to Dee in the bathroom which is side splitting. The pregnancy is awesome, this show is really on fire right now.

Community — This may be currently my favorite show on television. I’ve even been thinking it’s as good if not better then Arrested Development’s first season. Every episode is incredibly inventive and creative. Every character is used to their full potential. They’ve been doing tv tropes lately to perfection. They’ve even been able to show heart in places that I don’t think other tv shows would even dare to go. Dan Harmon is a creative genius and I hope and pray this show keeps getting better.
The picture is shown on the whole article is actually from last night’s Claymation Christmas episode.
