Anyone who knows anything about Green Arrow knew this was coming for Laurel Lance on “Arrow”, and now we have our first look at what Katie Cassidy will look like when she picks up the mantle of Black Canary.
With Sara Lance, the show’s original Canary, meeting her demise at the beginning of Season 3, it seemed that it was only a matter of time before a grief-stricken Laurel decided to pick up where her sister left off. Under the guidance/training of a (much younger) Ted Grant aka Wildcat, we have seen Laurel’s determination to take matters into her own hands to avenge her sister and start making a difference in Starling City grow. I’m sure spending so much time with a group of vigilantes has an influence as well.
Personally, I’m not Laurel’s biggest fan. Her character has struggled to be little more than annoying baggage for other characters these last few seasons. However, perhaps this anger and spunk is just what her character needs to become more relevant and serve a greater purpose on “Arrow”.
