EPIX Heading to PSN

The Playstation Blog announced earlier this week that an app for EPIX will be heading to the PSN in the coming months. “Giving their users yet another way to enjoy the full media experience through their console.” I had 2 questions to go along with their announcement, what the hell is EPIX, and do I want it? I figured instead of forcing you out into the terrifying wilds of the internet I would instead dig up the skinny on what it is, and we could go from there.

EPIX is a service that you pay for through your cable provider. It’s a channel comprising content from LionsGate, MGM, and Paramount. The 3 giants are stacking not only their original content but their vast library into EPIX for you to utilize either through your set top box, web browser, and soon consoles. The price through Charter is only $10.00 a month, or is included in some of their bundles, I’d like to think the other providers allow you to attach it a la carte for $10.00 as well, but that may require some digging on your part. It is currently only available with the following providers:

So there you have it folks, your PS3 will be able to stream large amounts of content from a few major studios in the coming months, and your Vita won’t be far behind. I’m not sure how excited I really am, how about you folks, will this compliment your Netflix and Hulu subscriptions?
