2011 Nominations

Comedy is my specialty so I’ll start there. In the lead actress catergory look for Tiny Fey to win again, or for an up and coming Laura Linney to win for The Big C which if you haven’t watched yet is a really good comedy about Cancer. The one nom I feel is misplaced is Melissa McCarthy for the awful Mike and Molly. Supporting Actress I see going to Jane Lynch for Glee but she could be easily done in by the juggernaut Modern Family.

Lead Actor will likely go to Steve Carrell since it’s his last year in that role though I’d like to make a shout out to Matt LeBlanc for the incredibly funny “Episodes.” Then in supporting actor Modern Family has four of the six noms so look for one of them to win again unless Chris Colfer is able to squeak ahead. The for best comedy series Modern Family will likely win the whole thing. Though I’m personally sad Community isn’t anywhere on these noms.

Onto Drama. Many are wondering why juggernaut Breaking Bad isn’t on the lists, that is because last season ended over a year ago and so none of the episodes qualified this year. In the best actor category there are a lot of strong contenders, I’m glad to see Friday Night Lights getting pushed for it’s final season and if it were up to me I’d see Timothy Olyphant winning for Justified but I see Jon Hamm winning this one. Supporting actor I have to give to either Peter Dinklage for the amazing role he did in Game of Thrones or Walter Goggins for the amazing Boyd Crowder in Justified. If either of them wins I will be happy.

In Lead Actress I’d like to see Connie Britton winning for Friday Night Lights though it’s also nice to see Mireille Enos for The Killing. Elisabeth Moss will likely win for Mad Men but Kathy Bates might squeak out a win. Then in supporting actress if Margo Martindale doesn’t win for the amazing Mags in Justified I will be sorely disappointed.

The shows up for best drama are all quite interesting. Game of Thrones could pick up a first season win and even though I don’t think it’ll win it’s good to see Friday Night Lights nominated. Mad Men is the likely winner but Game of Thrones might be able to push past it.

What are your thoughts? Do you think anything was snubbed? Who do you think will win?
