The big news out of Redmond yesterday was the announcement of the Surface Pro 3, but what Microsoft didn’t mention was that they are also planning on releasing a smaller version of the tablet as well.
According to a close source with Microsoft, the company started to let slip that a mini version was in the works but immediately cut off the announcement for a future press release. When pressed for details, our source said they didn’t have much more info other than it was definitely confirmed and would be revealed in the near future.
Considering how successful the iPad Mini and the smaller Galaxy Tabs are, it’s not that surprising that Microsoft is looking to enter into the smaller tablet market as well, but it’s interesting that they didn’t just outright announce it with the Pro 3. The Surface line are great, but they have a long way to go to catch up to the sales numbers being made on iPads and Galaxy tablets, so the secrecy is a bit puzzling.
We’ll bring you more details as we get it, so keep an eye out for future updates!
