This morning heralded Apple’s iPhone press conference in Cupertino. Expected to announce 2 models of iPhone this year Tim Cook and company did not disappoint. The 5c will replace the current iPhone 5 model and is available in white, blue, red, green, or yellow. The 16 gb model will be $99 with a 2 year contract, and the 32gb model will be $199. The device will also have specially designed cases that compliment the phone. These fancy-pants toys can be acquired for a scant $29. The iPhone 5S will be available in 16, 32, and 64 gb priced as usual at $199, $299, $399 respectively. The iPhone 5C will be available for pre-order starting September 13, 2013 and will launch alongside it’s big brother, the 5S on September 20, 2013.
The iPhone 5C will have some pretty solid specs:
- Apple A6 Processor
- Hard-coated polycarbonate body (plastic shell)
- 8mp camera
- HD front facing face-time camera
- Yellow, Red, Blue, White or Green color
- 16 and 32 gb model
Once again the 5C will be available for $99 @16gh or $199 @32 gb. It will release September 20, 2013 and be available for pre-order starting September 13.

The iPhone 5S will have the following features:
- Apple A7 processor (first mobile 64 bit processor)
- Multiple colors Silver, White and Gold
- Touch ID finger print sensor
- M7 location and motion chip
- iOS 7
- Specialized Aluminum body with Chamfered edges
- 15% larger sensor area for photos
- Burst shot @ 10 frames/second
- Best Shot Mode
- Slow-motion at 120 FPS
- Open GL ES 3.0
- Blue-Tooth 4.0
It will be available with its myriad of features on September 20, 2013 alongside the 5c. Apple didn’t seem to have pre-orders for the 5s available, so it looks like Sept. 20 will be a first-come first-serve kind of day. It is also notable that Apple has again left NFC off of both devices as a feature. They have beefed up the existing internals quite impressively and left off what other smart phones are including as an almost mandatory addition. If a new iPad is to hit this year I guess we’ll hear about it in another conference, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they waited until spring 2014 before dropping a new tablet.
Well, internet what do you think? Is it time to upgrade, switch operating systems, or are you waiting another year? Sound off below.
