BSR TV! The Weekly 11.06.2013 – Final Exam

With not a lot of news this week and Triscut being down sick, Tom takes the opportunity to stream Final Exam, because he can.

Turn Your Android Phone Into an SNES

While tinkering with the new Moga Hero i had a thought. What if I could use this for emulators?! It supports HID controls after all, and it worked on all my other Android games. The answer is yes, Emulators work, and I’ll give you a quick step by step on how to do this.

STEP ONE: Buy a Moga Hero, or Moga Pro. Install the Moga Pivot App and follow the steps to sync the controller. Make sure that you sync it A +B (pivot and HID).

STEP TWO: Download SuperGNes, you can get the lite version which doesn’t load from autosaves, or pay $3.99 to get all the bells an whistles. I paid $3.99, you can do whatever you want.

STEP 3: Fill your phone with ROMS, I downloaded mine from HERE, but anywhere that hosts NES, SNES, or other roms is good enough. Note that if you hit the link while on your Android phones you can direct download the zip files to your phone, and press the Sync button inside of Super GNES, it will then find the new games, pretty sweet.

STEP 4: Make sure the MOGA is connected to your phone, and boot up SUPER GNES.

Tap menu then

settings (the wrench on the top right pictured below)

Controller One

map buttons

choose MOGA 2 HID

and then map the controls to whatever is comfortable. If you’re mirroring a Super NES it should look like this.

A – Button 2, B – Button 1, x – Button 3, Y – Button 4, L- L Trigger, R – R trigger Start- Start Select-Select

Now boot your game and play! The controller is ergonomic, has an 1800 mah battery and dual analog. You won’t need to do anything but play SNES or NES games for the rest of your life. Go forth and game!

PODCAST: Entertainment Is Dead

Rich is feeling extra trolly during this episode, and decides to spark heavy debate. The question begins with the sales numbers for the Kinect, Numerically it is one of the highest attached accessories in console history. Kinect games however are rarely sold, and generaly unused. Therefore it’s a complete failure right? The crew then sets out to define what makes a game, or gaming system “successful”. Sound off below after giving a listen, what makes something successful for you?

VIDEO GAMES: ESRB Reminds Us That Gamers Are Responsible

Gaming has caught a lot of attention over the years with many calling for more strict regulations. What most haven’t realized is that there is  already an organization that helps consumers make smart decisions based on a games content. This has been a way for gamers to regulate and parents to monitor content for years. The trailer below is an “infomercial” that shows options. You can head to the ESRB website to check in depth information on the ratings or through a mobile app. This video  is cute though, that’s a good thing. Go forth and make smart decisions.
