Activision unveiled the new “Geometry Wars” title at gamescom 2014. “Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions” will feature a 50 level campaign that includes boss levels. The game will also feature 10 game modes and a new take on the infinite mode. While the levels will still be the 2d plane you’re used to it will be wrapped around simple 3d shapes to add depth. Maps will also feature pop-up terrain hazards such as mobile barricades and more. The game will launch under Activisions Sierra relaunch and is looking to be another arcade-style blast.
“Tomb Raider” was arguably one of the best games of 2013, and it was no secret that the BSR! team was losing their mind when “Rise of the Tomb Raider” was announced. Microsoft announced that this game will be exclusive to the Xbox One. The game will release Holiday of 2015. There you have it folks, if you haven’t found a game to buy for, this is it.
Microsoft and 343 Studios gave a first look at the “Halo 5” beta during Gamescom 2014. During the look they also announcedthe beta date, how many maps and more. BioWare has been hyping a previously unannounced title through a viral email campaign sent to their registered users. These short video snippets hint at “being chosen” and having a power that is undisclosed. Today at GamesCom they announced their new 4v1 action RPG “Shadow Realms”. The game looks to be aimed for PC, and is said to have begun with old school Dungeons and Dragons. The 4 v 1 combat means that there is a great potential for having an action RPG with tactics similar to “Evolve”. With the same company that brought us “Mass Effect”, “Jade Empire”, “KOTOR” and more behind this, I can’t imagine it being anything short of fantastic. The reveal trailer can be seen below!
IGN has posted an 8 minute gameplay video of “Dragon Age: Inquisition” from Gamescom 2014. As you can expect the game looks gorgeous and the combat system looks like a greatly cleaned up version of the previous titles. If anything, the greatly improved environments look to be enough to immerse yourself for hours. The demo from the presentation shows different attacks, moves, and team management, video is below!
A trailer was posted on the official PlayStation YouTube channel yesterday advertising a demo of a new game called P.T. that was supposedly terrifying. As soon as the video went up, players flocked to the PlayStation store to download the demo, and the reward for finishing it was, well…a lot more impressive than the demo itself:
The new Silent Hill game, called Silent Hills – a very simple yet intriguing title – is being developed by horror legend Guillermo del Toro, The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus, and famous game designer Hideo Kojima. I was a little confused seeing Kojima’s name at first. He’s been an integral part of the Metal Gear series for a long time, but that game is in a completely different genre. After reading an interview with him though, and it started to make sense.
The Silent Hill series has faltered over the last few games, in my opinion. I don’t think the way to fix it is by hiring a bunch of famous people, but given the backgrounds of these three, it actually seems like it might just work. I mean, I never thought I’d be excited for Silent Hill ever again. The fact that I am is probably more shocking than anything I’ll see in this upcoming game.

IGN is reporting that Sony’s first quarter report is out. This report details sales from April – June 30 of this year and has some impressive numbers to counter the abysmal turnout from 2013. The game and network division of the company is reporting 2.5bn in sales which is attributed to the successful launch of their flagship console the PS4.
The report doesn’t show individual numbers, but shows a combined 3.5 million units in Q1 across their console lineup.
Microsofts same report showed the Xbox selling 1.1 million units in Q1 giving Sony the 3:1 lead to start 2014. It is worth noting, however, that Sony does have an additional console on the market to help with these sales numbers. It is also worth noting that the turnaround this year vs Sony’s 2013 numbers Last year q1 showed a loss of 16.4bn, while this quarter had a profit of 4.3bn. Looks like our consoles will be here a while.
2k Games lit up Twitter this morning letting us all know that “Bioshock” will be headed to iOS later this year. The game, is said to be priced at a “premium” and will not feature micro-transactions. It will run on iPhone 5c, 5s, iPad 4, iPad Air and, iPad Mini with Retina. This is an awesome opportunity to play through one of my favorite shooters, optimized for touch screens.
