Lego Marvel Super Heroes released a demo for consoles on October 15th and if you haven’t played it yet I highly recomend you do. The demo lets fans play as three Marvel icons Hulk, Iron Man and Spider-man. In the demo the heroes fight Abomination and Sandman. Working together and using the breakable/buildable enviroment to defeat the villians is fun for gamers of all ages. If you’ve never played a lego game before but love the superhero idea give the demo a shot to see if you should buy the whole game. I for one have already pre-ordered my copy.

TRAILER: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Video Game Teaser
The teaser trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Video Game has been dropped! Looks like it iwll be heading out in Spring 2013. Not a ton of hints being thrown around inside the trailer, we know their will be villains, Spidey will be web swinging, and it will be a video game. The questions then arise about platforms, dates, villains, story, you know the impotant stuff. Here is the teaser folks!
From what I can tell from here in Utah and notin San Diego, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is looking to have a big presence at Comic Con. Looking to start the hype right from the get go, the following teaser was released earlier this week showcasing a quick look at Electro.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I am very much looking forward to this movie and have high hopes for this new franchise. So far I have been very pleased with Electro’s look, and now hearing Jaime Foxx speak with the effects applied to his voice I am even more looking forward to what kind mayhem he causes for ol’ Web Head.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 SDCC panel is scheduled for later this afternoon in Hall H, so watch for even more exciting news to come out of that!
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits theaters May 2, 2014.
New Official Images from ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Hit the Pages of EW
Yesterday, we got a sneak peek at the cover of Entertainment Weekly’s Comic Con issue which featured Spider-Man facing-off with Electro, giving us our first good look at Electro and the costume he’ll be wearing. Today, we have a bunch of new images from The Amazing Spider-Man 2, courtesy EW (gallery below).
Featuring shots of Spidey in action, Electro looking menacing, The Rhino struggling with a bout of road rage, and Gwen smiling, these photos really give us our first official clear glances at the film, especially regarding Electro. Frankly, I like the look of Electro. I think this villain may be one of the more difficult to adapt to a Spider-Man movie world and I think they have done a bang-up job with his look. He actually looks like a guy who got jolted with electricity (the burned ears) and is now empowered by it (the cool lighting effects) – yet, he’s still recognizable as the Electro from the comics, namely Ultimate Spider-Man.
Also, I’m really digging Spider-Man’s costume changes. The bigger eyes, the darker tones (though, I quite liked the lighter colors of the previous film’s costume), and the lack of sneaker-looking boots. For me, it really conveys a look that Peter has grown up a bit since the first film and perhaps has started to settle into his role as a superhero – and every hero needs a well-put-together costume.
I really enjoyed the first film, despite some of its issues and the fact that we, once again, had to endure his origin story. I am very much looking forward to what’s in store for us when Spider-Man tangles with some more villains in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 when it hits theaters on May 2, 2014!
What do you think of Electro’s look? What about Spider-Man’s new duds? Are you or are you not looking forward to this film? Could I ask you anymore engaging questions to start a dialogue in the comments below? You know the drill: Sound Off!

Entertainment Weekly’s Comic Con issue drops tomorrow, and they’ve graced the cover with the clearest shot of Jaimie Foxx as Elctro so far. I’m pretty sure fan reactions to the way Electro looks will be mixed, but I personally like it quite a bit. Definitely looks a lot like Electro from Ultimate Spider-Man, don’t you think?
So, what do you think? Too much? Too blue? Just right? Or are you ticked that they didn’t go with the classic green and yellow suit?
SPOILERS!: An ‘Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Villain May Not Be Who You Think He Is
If you missed the part of the headline of this post that said “SPOILERS!”, then here is your final warning that there are potential Amazing Spider-Man 2 spoilers in this post. They may just be rumors, but you have been warned.
Still with me? Great. Here we go.
It has been previously reported that we will, in fact, see the Green Goblin in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 along with Electro and Rhino. There are rumors that they are building up to a showdown between Spider-Man and the movie version of the Sinister Six and these villains will fill three spots on that roster, presumably to be joined by others in the following movie(s). Chris Cooper is on board to play Norman Osborn/Green Goblin (in a supposed Iron-Man-like armor thing), but Movie Web is reporting that it will not be Norman Osborn who becomes the Green Goblin, but instead his son Harry, played by Chronicle‘s Dane DeHaan.
Movie Web also notes that the climax of the film will take place in an Oscorp power plant and that Gwen Stacy’s “death” will only be a “fake out” in this film – her “real” death will come in either Amazing Spider-Man 3 or 4. And finally, they also note that there will be a post-credits stinger (mini-movie) that will lead directly into the next film.
How’s that for some potential spoilers for you?!
Marc Webb tweeted all sorts of on-set pictures and teases during the shooting of Amazing Spider-Man 2, and couple that with the no shortage of rumors and spoilers that have been flying around, I have officially given up on what to expect from this film. I am in the camp that really enjoyed The Amazing Spider-Man and am very much looking forward to the sequel. My concern, however, is that they are just trying to pack too much into the film. We’ve seen this time and time again with superhero films where the thought process is more villains equals more action, and more action equals a better movie and the result have been less than great.
With regards to Harry Osborn, not Norman, becoming the Green Goblin, I just don’t know. There’s a part of me that is bothered by this and feels that it is an unecessary change, but another part that feels this could be interesting. This is not comic book Spider-Man, this is Amazing Spider-Man movie Spider-Man, so I’m willing to see how this change plays out on screen – but I am not without reservations.
We will have to wait until May 2014 to see how much of this is all true when The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hit theaters!

Spider-Man Memes, As Read By The Spectacular Josh Keaton
If you’ve been on the internet for any length of time, you’re familiar with memes. Everything from creepy girlfriends to various feline shenanigans are available for us to peruse and laugh along with. One of our favorite meme themes here at BSR are the ones that showcase the fondly remembered (but also poorly animated and sometimes completely crazy) 1967 Spider-Man cartoon. It was quite a treat then to randomly find a YouTube video where Josh Keaton, the voice of Peter Parker/Spider-Man from the excellent, cancelled before its time Spectacular Spider-Man. We just had to share it. While it could be considered NSFW, all naughty language is bleeped out, so no worries.

I don’t care who you are, that’s pretty great right there. Our only hope is that the Vol. 1 in the title means there is more of this to come, because this is gold. Now, if we can convince the likes of Neil Patrick Harris, Christopher Daniel Barnes, Dan Gilvezan, and Rino Romano to follow suit, we can have a Spidey voice actor meme showdown! Stranger things have happened, right?
Over the last week Marvel has released a bunch of teases that have had people speculating some out there theories. Talk of rebooting the Marvel Universe a la Flashpoint style seemed to be the most popular. Well on Sunday Marvel had their panel at SXSW and explained what those teases actually are. They have to do with a lot of things Marvel will be doing digitally. The first tease that came out last week was this:
And with that we get the announcement that Marvel is, for a limited time, offering 700 #1 issues and one shots for free on their digital site and app. This promotion will run until 11pm eastern time on Tuesday March 12th. This even includes the first issues of the recent Marvel Now titles. So if you’ve been wanting to check out some of the new series, but weren’t too sure, the first issues are all available. You may be waiting a bit though because comixology’s website crashed shortly after this announcement was made. I hope they have it fixed soon since this promotion is only running for 2 more days.
Let’s move on to the next tease:
The running joke on the internet was that this was going to be “The Now 52.” What could the 52 hashmarks be? Well there are 52 weeks in a year, and with that we’ll be getting 52 weekly digital infinite comics. We will see four seperate series with each one being 13 parts. The first is “Wolverine: Japan’s Most Wanted” written by Jason Aaron and Jason Latour and drawn by Paco Diaz. “What we’re doing with Infinite Comics is developing a new language for telling comic book stories” said Axel Alonso, Marvel’s Editor in Chief. The first issue comes out July 9th and is available for pre order right now on Marvel’s digital store.

If you want a free taste of how the Infinte Comics work, Marvel released a free issue earlier this week spotlighting Drax the Destroyer from Guardians of the Galaxy written by Brian Michael Bendis and drawn by Michael Avon Oeming. For more preview pages check the gallery at the end of the article.
The last tease Marvel had posted was about somthing called Project Gamma:
Project Gamma actually sounds pretty cool to me, but won’t be launching until later this year. Project Gamma is an initiative to add music and sound effects to your digital comics. This is being worked on by the same companies that composed and produced music for the Looper, Drive, The King’s Speech, and the Harry Potter films.
Marvel also announced that they are launching another weekly web series hosted by Blair Butler called “Marvel’s Earths Mightiest Show.” It will bring you news from Marvel, in addition to interviews and behind the scenes looks at their films.
So the news has been trickling in about casting for the “The Amazing Spider-Man” sequel, scheduled to be released May 2, 2014.
The latest casting news is Chris Cooper will be the Green Goblin. The first thing I thought, “Oh, heck yeah! He’s perfect!” Then I remembered something. Jamie Foxx briefly mentioned Spidey on the red carpet at the Oscars this year. He’s going to be Electro.
Oh, and didn’t you hear? Paul Giamatti will be cast as Rhino.
Individually, these all sound like amazing casting choices. These are all award-winning actors, and these are characters I’m not as familiar with. It’ll be great to see how they fit into the Spider-Man universe. But doesn’t this seem all too familiar?
James Franco as the New Goblin. Thomas Haden Church as Sandman. Topher Grace as Venom. Yep, that’s the cast from 2007’s “Spider-Man 3”, which disappointed a lot of fans of the series. I believe it ultimately led to this reboot. I really don’t want to say it, but I think the curse of the overstuffed villain plot may resurface.
I am not a movie “expert”. Like most people, once you’ve seen what works and what doesn’t, it’s not too hard to ascertain future projects. Casting 3 villains in one movie didn’t work.
“The Amazing Spider-Man” was a great, fun, flick, but it was a bit weak as far as plot flow. There were moments that were a smidge boring. So their remedy is to throw in more characters?
The Spider-Man franchise has always been a wonderful part of my life growing up. I really hate to see a reboot fall the way its predecessor did.
Here’s hoping I am proven wrong.
What do you think? Is the next Spider-Man doomed to fail like Spider-Man 3? Or is there hope? Sound off in the comments below.
