Meet the Seven Evil Exes From Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World!

About 3 months ago, Budgetron (aka Derek Hunter) was kind enough to lend me all the volumes in the Scott Pilgrim series (that have been released) and I instantly fell in love with the story, the world, and the characters. Since that time, I have been obsessed with the movie treatment, hoping like all of you who have been fans much longer than I that Edgar Wright knocks it out of the park (but come on, is anyone doubting him that much from what we’ve seen in the trailers and TV Spots?). August just seems so far away, so until then, any new trailers, clips, posters, etc. that are released are like heroin to me…

Anywho… the fine folks at JoBlo have posted some pretty groovy character posters featuring Ramona Flowers’ evil ex-boyfriends! You can check out two of them below then shoot on over to JoBlo to check out the other four!

And, I know Derek, you want your comics back… you’ll have them back soon!

ET! Visits the Set of Thor

 odin
In this not very revealing visit of the set of Thor, Entertainment Tonight proves that it’s easy for them to not be in on the joke.

There isn’t a whole lot of new anything in this piece (though we do get a glimpse of Odin!) and the interviewer asks the most banal questions in the whole galaxy.

I’m still incredibly excited for this movie, even though it’s ridiculously obvious that Entertainment Tonight doesn’t get it at all. Why do these people have access to the set and get to reveal stuff like this? They should at least have the decency to hire someone who knows what they’re doing, or has a rapport with the actors.

This is also the first I’ve seen of Natalie Portman in the role and Kenneth Branagh talking about it on video.  But again the ET! interviewer and editor picks out the lamest quotes possible.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt to Play The Riddler?

 claudia-schiffer-and-joseph-gordon-levitt

Hollywood Life is claiming that a source close to Director Christopher Nolan has supposedly stated that Nolan is very interested in having Joseph Gordon-Levitt don the infamous question mark and take on the role of The Riddler as the villain in the third Batman film. Gordon-Levitt of course co-stars in Nolan’s upcoming film, Inception, due out this Summer. Here’s what Hollywood Life had to say on the matter:

“Chris really dug Joseph [as an actor],” a source close to the director tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively. “There was a joke at first between them [on the set of Inception] that Joseph wanted to read for Batman 3 and things heated up as filming continued.”

Adds the insider, “It’s not 100% confirmed that he’s getting [the role of The Riddler] but there’s certainly talk about it. Joseph is definitely on the short list.” This should make fans happy, especially as several fan sites have expressed a wish to see the 500 Days of Summer cutie score the role!

Before I continue, I would take this with a grain of salt. JGL’s name is the latest in a long line of many actors associated to being the next Batman villain, The Riddler or otherwise. I like this casting idea, and if this is being considered then you can consider me painted “cautiously excited”.

Now, Christopher Nolan recently confirmed to Empire Magazine that he will absolutely not be recasting the Joker and bringing him back as the villain in the third film, so we have seen the last of the Joker in this Batman universe. I really think that the Riddler is the next best, and logical villain for the film franchise – this is something that Kill-Tacular-Tron, Mexicus Prime and I have talked about in length before. Many people have the argument that the Riddler is too similar to the Joker, but hear me out. The fact that the Riddler is like the Joker is a plus; Imagine a tech-savvy younger guy (Gordon-Levitt’s age) who is essentially a Joker copy-cat, but ups the game and has his own riddle-based take on the fucked-up games the Joker was playing with Batman putting people’s lives on the line. I really think it could work and I would be excited to see the version of the Riddler Nolan will come up with.

So, even though this is very much just a rumor at this point, what do all of you think of this prospect?

Rosamund Pike to Play Emma Frost in ‘X-Men: First Class’?

 pike-emma

Forces of Geek is reporting that former Bond Girl, Rosamund Pike, may be being considered for the role of Emma Frost in the upcoming X-Men: First Class. How did they come to this conclusion?

Apparently, Pike (who appeared in Die Another Day, An Education and Pride and Prejudice), who has been a fan favorite for the role, was spotted around Lucinda Syson’s offices. Lucinda worked as First Class director Matthew Vaughn’s casting director on Kick-Ass and Stardust.

FOG also reports that Pike was seen carrying a copy of X-Men Origins: Emma Frost…

The more casting news and rumors that surface, the more confused I become over the direction they are taking this film. James McAvoy seems to be a bit young for Professor Xavior if they still want to include the “First Class” of X-Men (i.e. Cyclops, Beast, Ice Man, Angel, Marvel Girl). But now, with the rumor of Rosamund Pike being cast for an Emma Frost role I am really starting to wonder which X-Men lineup they plan to go with. Don’t get me wrong, I think Pike would actually make a great Emma Frost, but I was kind of looking forward to the true X-Men original line up…

Yes, I know, Emma Frost could very well just be a minor character – but this all just seems a bit odd to me. At this point, I am going to just sit back and see who else’s name gets dropped down the casting rumor pipeline and wait for confirmations from FOX!

X-Men: First Class is aiming for a June 2011 release.

What do you think? Does Rosamund Pike make a good Emma Frost? How do you feel about the casting news and rumors thus far?

Jeremy Renner for Hawkeye!

According to the Hollywood Reporter’s Heatvision Blog, Hurt Locker star Jeremy Renner is in “final negotiations” to join the Marvel Universe as the purple-clad archer “Hawkeye”.

Clint Barton was originally a villain until he saw the light and joined up with the Avengers.  The Ultimate iteration of the character had him as a Black-Ops marksman of unnatural skill.  Either version of the character could be compelling in the new Marvel film universe.

My only concern?

Renner’s involvement was initially rumored last fall, although the actor, who was in the middle of the awards derby with his war thriller “The Hurt Locker,” was at the time more taken with Paul Thomas Anderson’s untitled drama and was being heavily courted by Universal for “Battleship.”

Renner never joined “Battleship,” and while he still has definite interest in Anderson’s film, that project is still cobbling financing and has seen its start pushed back several times.

Renner saw a chance to take on work in a role that, while key, is not starring in nature and will allow him to slide into Anderson’s film if it should come together.

To keep costs manageable for the “Avengers,” Marvel is trying to keep a lid on the movie’s finances and the actors are taking salary cuts, according to insiders.

That’s right.  If this interferes with anything PT Anderson wants to do, I’m all against it.
