Charlie Sheen visits Riverdale?!

So, that Charlie Sheen guy has been in the news recently. And it’s been a fascinating trip inside a celebrity’s mind, and now it seems that the happy insanity has crossed over into comicdom! The following piece of art has been seen in various other places around the internet, notably the MTV Geek blog, but this aketch by Archie artist Fernando Ruiz  has to truly be seen to be believed.

I can’t decide if Betty and Veronica are truly happy to be invited to Charlie’s sexy party, or if they have-deer-in the headlights expressions on their faces because they’re scared out of their wits. To be honest, this picture is just a fun sketch by Ruiz, and it by no means is indicative of Sheen appearing in Archie Comics. If it did happen though, the story possibilities would be endless.

  • The above pictured “anointing” of B&V as “goddesses”
  • The Archie gang has a series of face-melting thanks to the new drug ‘Charlie Sheen’
  • A Martian  three-way (heh) concert is held with The Archies, Josie & the Pussycats, and Sheen aka “The rock star from Mars”
  • Charlie leading the Riverdale Historical Society in it’s Civil War re-enactment, since he is “battle-tested bayonets”
  • A new mini-series ‘Charlie’s Vatican Assassins”
  • Sheen donates the “rocket fuel in the tip of his saber” to Dilton, creating a new renewable energy source until it goes horribly wrong.
  • Charlie wins the annual Riverdale surfing contest, thanks to his mercury surfboard
  • Jughead reports sightings of “droopy-eyed armless children” after one of Charlie’s legendary parties
  • As mentioned by Chris Sims, an all out warlock battle with Salem, Sabrina’s cat.

Man, now I kind of want to read those…

Robocop Speaks Out for Robocop Statue!

You may have seen our post about the movement to get a statue of RoboCop built in Detroit. Well, the statue fund has gone above and beyond, and it looks like the statue may actually happen. There is just one thing to stop it, which is Detroit Mayor David Bing. I don’t think Mayor Bing is a bad guy, I just don’t think he understands the good this project has done. People are actually talking about Detroit, of all places! The people at Funny or Die thought he might need a bit more convincing, though. They got Peter Weller, the first (and best) actor to play RoboCop to school him on the error of his ways.

I for one hope that Mayor Bing has a sense of humor about the whole thing, because more than ever, I want to see this statue happen. You can still help, head over to detroitneedsrobocop.com and do your part to make the “Future of Law Enforcement” a monument that stands the test of time.

If Soulja Boy Plays Pokemon, Does that Make Me Cool Too?

About a week ago via Twitter hip-hop icon Soulja Boy unleashed his nerdy fury stating

I just want to say yes I play Pokemon on nintendo ds and I dont want to lose an swag behind that. Dont judge me lol i made it too far.

So if he plays, then theoretically the 350 hours I have invested into Heart Gold is totally justified right? Hanging out at Gamestop’s to download the legendary they’re giving away that day is totally cool right? I say based on his tweet, that all Pokemon players are 1 Pikachu away from music industry fame and fortune, … His official tweet is below. Pokemon comes 1 week from today and yes folks I’ll be there buying both versions and once again attempting to catch them all, who’s with me?! Comment below.

Andy Samberg and Pee-Wee Herman Get Trashed

I know it sounds crazy, but Andy Samberg and Pee-Wee Herman got together for the Digital Short on this week’s Saturday Night Live.

It was pretty damn funny, so I decided to share it with our faithful readers here.

And their “pranks” are hilarious in their stupidity.  It’s no wonder they need an intervention.

Obama as Skywalker…

Jon Stewart came off vacation yesterday and hit things home with a great analogy for what happened with Barack Obama and his agenda during the lame duck session of Congress.

It’s a pretty apt analogy when you bring Star Wars into it. And not to get too political, it was great to see who they put in for the Wampa and I hope Obama does come back much like Luke did in Return of the Jedi… And maybe it would be good to see him cut off John Boehner’s hand…

It’s important to remember how much of a Star Wars nerd Jon Stewart is. You can read about his interview with George Lucas here. (-_62MVI”>And you can watch Stewart’s run-in with Big Shiny Robot! here…)

The truth about Mega Man’s Degree

I knew there was an easier way to pass physics, turns out all I needed was the mega buster, and a place to stash the body and I wouldn’t have retaken it so many times.

It’s Wil Wheaton Day!

In a day where everyday seems to be another holiday what’s another one thrown in the mix going to do? I mean we have Pi day, May the Fourth Be With You and even a day celebrating Super Mario’s birthday. Well, today (according to http://wilwheatonday.com/) you can add another useless holiday to your calenders, Will Wheaton day. You may remember him as the helmsmen and son of the widowed doctor on Star Trek Next Generation Wesley Crusher. Now, personally, if a day is going to be celebrated about a Star Trek actor, I would choose William Shatner. I mean the guy got more tail than any Star Fleet captain in the Federation, I think Wesley is still a virgin on the show. But, if you feel the need to really celebrate this intergalactic virgin child, here are apparently some activities to follow:

•Reciting of the Works
Master of ceremonies reads from the Wil Wheaton’s IMDB page.

•The Endowment
Participants wear knitted, earth tone sweaters (preferably with shoulder pads).

•The Reenactment
Participants put on a line by line reenactment of the episode “The Game” of Star
Trek TNG.

•The Sacraments
Participants eat Huevos rancheros, Big chicken bowl w/ potato salad, Petit fillet
and Grilled Dodger Dogs.

•The Anthem
Participants and the Wil Wheaton Day Band (Violin, Trombone and Keyboard)
join in a rendition of “Oh Wheaton, My Wheaton”, followed by covers of
Depeche Mode songs.

So, if you find yourself bored, or just need an excuse to relieve the Monday stress, here is yet another pointless and useless reason to party. This will be the first of what is threatened to be an annual celebration of this fleshy male type creature. I wonder if there is a day left on the calendar which does not celebrate something. As for me, I will be working on creating a day honoring a real Star Trek character, Data. I think any robotic lifeform who can deal with fleshy humans on a day to day basis deserves recognition.

This Week IN Comics

Big Shiny Robot! has a weekly column in the Salt Lake City alt-weekly IN Magazine and every week we bring it to you on the site.

This week, Dr. Cyborg is back, pondering the issue of Super-hero origins and whether or not they stand up.

If you live in the greater Salt Lake area, you can pick up a copy of IN Magazine up from one of their ubiquitous newsstands, and we would highly suggest that you do.

You can read the online version of the story here.
