Welcome to the twenty-first issue of Convention Sketches!

We feature a convention sketch here every week. We’ve got a whole pile of our own, but we want to see yours, too. Email us convention sketches you want to show off and let us know what website you’d like credited for it. (bryan(at)bigshinyrobot.com)

This week we’re featuring a convention sketch of Slave Leia that Ryan Ottley did at the Emerald City Comic-Con.  I’m always interested in seeing an artists take on the Slave Leia and Ryan Ottley is no slouch.  Be sure to visit his website and hit him up at a con for a sketch.

This week, Sean Leslie from the Wednesday Warriors podcast sent in this great Scott Morse sketch, we have Akira Kurosawa and Toshiro Mifune. Morse is perhaps one of the biggest Kurosawa fans I’ve ever met (easily a match for Jerk-Bot and myself) and his enthusiasm for the master director is infectious.

The moment I saw this piece, I knew I was in love with it.

This week, Sean Leslie from the Wednesday Warriors podcast sent in this great Scott Morse Hellboy he had commissioned at the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con.

It’s a great looking piece and we look forward to see more of Sean’s sketches.

This week we have a Ryan Ottley original from a batch of convention sketches he did at an Arizona con.

This is his take on Queen Amidala, which I thought our Star Wars audience would love.

Ottley is the artist on Robert Kirkman’s Invincible and his work is second to none.   You can check out his website here.

This is from Shazbot’s personal collection.

This is a Superboy commission from Jeffery Moy. I am a big Legion fan, and I like the idea of Superboy in the Legion. I asked Jeff to make a Superboy in the outfit Alex Ross used for him in Kingdom Come. He didn’t have any reference except for his memory, and it turned out this way.

Convention Sketches #14

This comes from Bizarrobot’s personal collection.

The problem is, she has no idea who gave it to her. She was at a con and at an Artist’s Alley but the name of the artist completely escapes her.

If you drew this Daredevil with a seeing eye dog, chime in and let us know!

This week’s sketch is from Adriana Ferguson who makes comics with her cohort Kristin Van Dam at Minor Acts of Heroism

Predictably, this comes from Shazbot’s personal archive.
