A Twitter Guide to the Star Wars Celebration

If you don’t have the chance to go to Star Wars Celebration V this weekend by yourself, there are a number of twitter feeds and news sources you can follow to get as much of the experience as you can.

I’ll provide a few of my favorites here.  If you don’t have a twitter account, it’s easy and you pretty much need one in this day and age.

So, to start with, the first person you should be following on twitter is me, @Swankmotron.  Chances are good that if you’re here reading this, you’re following me anyway, but I’ll be live tweeting just about everything, and I’ll be posting all kinds of pictures.  I’ll sum up things here on  Big Shiny Robot! frequently, but the breaking news and pictures will be via twitter.

Next on the list is @BonnieGrrl.  Bonnie Burton runs the official Star Wars blog and Twitter feed and is an impressively sharp and funny geek on her own.  She’ll be on panels and hosting panels, and she’s always tweeting what she’s up to in the world of Star Wars.  Expect cool things from her.

Next is what I like to think of as the Artoo and Threepio team of online Star Wars coverage (though they think they’re Han and Chewie), @Erier2003 and @MandyBu.  Eric is the “social media director” for TheForce.Net and Mandy is their interviewer.  They also have a panel appearance or two and are committed to covering the event 9 ways from Sunday.  (They can fill you in on all of the other TF.N coverage you’d want)

For those interested in the goings on of the largest fan-costume organization in the world (of which I am an honorary friend of, honest, they gave me a plaque and everything) you should be following@501stLegion.  They have a whole lot of stuff planned for the show and will no doubt be tweeting about it.

Next on the list is @ClubJade.  They’re one of my favorite sites for Star Wars news.  I’m fairly certain that they’ll be at CV and their tweets are always fun.

Next is @SW_Celebration.  They’re the official twitter feed of the convention and have insightful and informational tweets that make them

I’ve saved the best for last.  I’m moderating a panel at Star Wars Celebration V called “Why We Love the Prequels” and you need to follow my entire panel.  First is @DaveFiloni, who is the supervising director of the Clone Wars cartoon.  Then the voice of Obi-Wan Kenobi for the Cartoon, James Arnold Taylor (@JATactor) joins us. Director of Fanboys @Kyle_Newman will be joining us as well as Tom Hodges (@HodgesArt), who is an artist for Lucasfilm.  @erier2003 is also on the panel.  The last member, not on Twitter, is Jesse Hildreth, an animator on The Clone Wars from Lucas Animation, Singapore.

If I’ve missed someone, please write about them in the comments and let everyone else know about them.

I’m heading out first thing in the morning, and that’s when the coverage starts.
