TINY THIEF — 5 ANTS — iOS — JULY 11, 2013 — $2.99
“Tiny Thief” is a game from 5 Ants that I had no idea existed until the iTunes did their 12 days of Christmas giveaway. It began as a time waster that soon grew into an obsession to rival “Angry Birds.”
The premise is simple, you’re a thief and you need to steal a certain object in each level. In order to steal the object there are a series of puzzles you need to complete and to achieve three stars on each level you have to complete all the puzzles even the hidden ones. Fairly straightforward right? The simplicity of the game is what makes it beautiful and exciting. The game play is fun and although not the hardest puzzle game out there it will still challenge you to think before you act.
The animation is fun while also fitting the world in which you play. One of my favorite parts was to first purposely get caught to see how the Thief would react in each level and then second complete each level to see his victory dance at the end. Each of these sequences were different depending on what level you were on. In the pirate ship when caught the Thief threw on an eye patch, in the queen’s bedchamber a French maid outfit was used to try and hide when I was seen. Little things like that really set this game apart from others and showed the thought and effort that went into the game itself.
Because the 12 days of Christmas from iTunes ended on Jan 6th Tiny Thief will cost you $2.99 on both IOS and Android deceives. It is well worth your money but I do recommend playing on a tablet instead of your phone. On a tablet you are able to see the whole level whereas on the phone you have to zoom out and move your finger around in order to see everything on the screen.
In short if you love puzzle games and are looking for something to entertain you for the next few days “Tiny Thief” is a steal and will be a game that you can’t wait to go back to as each new level in released.
