Star Wars Muppet Action Figures!

Use the Force, Kermit!

Wait . . . that’s not right.  Unless, of course, you’re at Walt Disney World or Disneyland, the happiest places on earth.

Disney has announced on their Disney Parks blog that they will be releasing a new set of action figures:  Muppets dressed as Star Wars characters.  When I first read this, I thought to myself, “But they already HAVE these figures!  I own a set!”  (I do.  Purchased excitedly in a Disney resort gift shop because I didn’t want to wait until I got to the Star Tours shop to own them).

However, there is one major difference between these new figures and mine (which were released some years ago)—these are articulated.  Meaning, of course, that they can be posed to look extra-cool at your work cubicle. (Not that you aren’t cool enough already—you have Muppets at your desk, but articulation gets bonus points).

You will be able to purchase these in two-figure sets this Fall.  According to the Disney blog, the sets will be packaged with the oh-so-lovable Beaker (C-3PO) and Dr. Bunsen Honeydew (R2-D2), Link Hogthrob of the classic Muppet Show Pigs in Space skit (Han Solo) and Fozzie the Bear (Chewbacca), and Sam the Eagle (Obi-Wan Kenobi) and Gonzo (Darth Vader) with his beloved chicken Camilla as a Stormtrooper.

Last, but certainly not least, Kermit as Luke Skywalker and Miss Piggy as Princess Leia are packaged together.  Though the figures won’t be available to purchase until Fall, they are on display at Jabba’s Hut at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.  It’s unfortunate that fans riding the updated Star Tours won’t have the opportunity to own these figures for a few months yet, but everyone should be able to own them before seeing the much-anticipated Muppets movie, premiering in theaters around Thanksgiving.

I honestly can’t think of anything better than a combination of Muppets and Star Wars characters, other than the fact that I didn’t see Yoda mentioned anywhere in the blog.  My own set has Rizzo the Rat as Yoda, and it’s so very cute.

May the Muppets be with you!
