The new Salt Lake Comic Con hasn’t even started and it has already outgrown its location. The Con is a collaboration with GEEX, which had been held at the South Towne Expo Center in the past. Now, about 6 weeks before the convention, the whole show is moving to the Salt Palace Convention Center in downtown Salt Lake City. The Salt Palace is a much better choice. Not only is it a much larger space but an overall better location with more options nearby for food and drink for attendees than could be found in Sandy. Along with being located in the heart of downtown, the SLC light rail system can drop attendees off on the doorstep of the Salt Palace. The organizer Dan Farr said. “It’s a much better comic con environment downtown than it would be in Sandy…It really does just kind of take a lid off of it. We felt like there was a lid on this.” South Towne and the 4 halls Farr had reserved would have only held about 20,000 people, many more will be able to fit in the Salt Palace. There will now be more tickets available for attendees and Farr hinted at booking more guests.
