REVIEW: Machinima’s Game Over

This new series covers first-person perspectives for different classes in the shooter genre. As you can guess they all end badly for the character in question. Visually I find the pieces to be interesting at least the first two. “The Bomb Tech” and “The Sniper” show what I consider to be your standard FPS story set up, you go in for a mission, everything goes wrong, and you’re forced to escape. It’s not often that I consider FPS a viable way to tell a story, but the creators do a great job of using the camera and perspective to keep you guessing and pulled into the content. The episodes available blend humor and combat well almost as if they’re integrating the online experience with what’s happening in game, especially with “The Firefly”. As a whole I enjoy what they’re doing with this series, and the creative side and special effects are phenomenal. I won’t go into heavy detail but even being technically sound, i hated “The Gamer” episode, with every inch of my being, it wasn’t funny, it was insulting. That aside I’m sure I’m a lone hater in a group of supporters, there must be people like this character out there, and that is what bothers me. Check this series out HERE, and be sure to vote on which episodes premiere next.
