At this point in my life Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 8 comic is like a very old friend you’ve known since high school but you are not all that sure why you still hang out with. I don’t know why I can’t stop reading this comic. Season 8 is by far the longest curtain call of all time. But issue 40 shines with its wonderfully consistent artwork and a story that in true Joss Whedon style – draws you in, Even if you think that you shouldn’t still be interested. We find the gang some time after the event of issue 39 – setting up plenty of story telling as they flash back to let us know what the heck happened and to move forward. Every one has seemed to either settled into a newly normal life, or is deeply resentful. And unfortunately for Buffy – all that resentment is directed at her. For those of you who read Fray things really fall into place as with issue 40 you can finally start to see how the world we knew from the Buffy TV show could ever have evolved into the world Melaka Frey inhabits.
