PSN Store Update 9/14/10

Not a bad update this week but probably nothing to be super excited about. First, continuing the celebration of Playstation’s 15th birthday, we have two more PSOne classics on sale.  Castlevania Chronicles (originally available 12/17/08) is only $2.99 and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (7/18/07) is $4.99. I never did get into this series, but if you’ve had a hankering for some vampire whipping action these are both classics.

Next we have a few Move-related items that are a little early considering the controller isn’t out until Friday.

  • tumble $9.99 (demo available)
  • EyePet Demo
  • Planet Minigolf Demo
  • Racquet Sports Demo
  • R.U.S.E. Demo

There are three new PSN games and another PSOne Classic.

  • My Aquarium $9.99 (Seems more like a screensaver than a game.)
  • Space Invaders Infinity Gene $9.99 (Demo available)
  • Worms 2: Armageddon $14.99 (Demo available)
  • Soviet Strike (PSOne) $5.99

Both demos are in my cart. In addition to those demos you can also pick some up for FIFA 11 and NBA 2k11. Why do they do that? If you buy these games every year or every five years or whenever you’re probably doing it with or without a demo. Has anyone ever played a soccer demo and decided they wanted to drop $60 on a game?

In the DLC world there is a free Lunar Landing Costume for the PSP Sackboy. Other than that, it looks like just Rock Band tracks. Nothing for Guitar Hero?

  • Rock Band $1.99 each (L=LEGO Compatible)
  • Holy Diver – Dio (L)
  • Irish Blood, English Heart – Morrissey
  • Nirvana – Julia Hatfield
  • Stand Up and Shout – Dio (L)
  • Straight Lines – Silverchair
  • This Charming Man – The Smiths (L)
  • Writing on the Walls – Underoath
  • RBN
  • Africa – Quartered $0.99
  • The Final Episode (Let’s Change the Channel) – Asking Alexandria $1.99
  • Nightlife Commando – Bang Camaro $1.99
  • Shop Vac – Jonathan Coulton $1.99 (Into the cart this goes.)
  • Swallow the Razor – Bang Camaro $0.99

For PSP there are a couple new Minis: Caterpillar and Panda Craze, both $4.99. The four new retail games are also listed, of course.

If anyone is needing some NCAA Dynamic themes then you can get Air Force, Clemson, Universities of Illinois, Kansas, Nebraska, Arizona, and Arkansas for $1.99 each. There is also a Play on Words ($1.49) dynamic theme for PS3 that looks intriguing and three more for your PSP: Family Guy, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia ($1.49 each). In the free, static theme department we have MLB 10 The Show (also for PSP) and three from Space Invaders. If you’d like a PixelJunk Racers 2nd Lap wallpaper you can also get that.

Classic game fans will enjoy the new avatars for $0.49 each.

  • Mega Man 10
  • Rush
  • Protoman (talking with his back turned)
  • Blade Man
  • Bass (dashing)
  • Street Fighter
  • Retsu
  • Geki

Finally, as always, there is a plethora of new videos and trailers – some of which I’ll be downloading. From this year’s Dew Tour there are 12 miscellaneous videos of athletes, events and promotions. Other extreme sports releases are a developer diary and a trailer for Shaun White Skateboarding. From Gamescom we get trailers for Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Little Big Planet 2 and The Fight: Lights Out. Finally, the announcement trailer for No Heroes Allowed on PSP is available.

I hope everybody has fun with these releases. I figure I’ve got an hour at least between a new Rock Band song and a couple demos.
