Due to the success of The Hunger Games, archery has become increasingly popular, and fans of the movie and the sport have the opportunity to see some of the finest competitors in the 2012 Olympic Games.
One such archer is Khatuna Lorig, who taught actress Jennifer Lawrence to shoot a bow and arrow as flawlessly as the character she portrayed—Katniss Everdeen. And, to celebrate the impact that the movie and books have had on archery, Lorig poses as Katniss in a replica jacket with the mockingjay pin.
Lorig is ranked 2nd in the USA and 15th in the world in archery, and she is competing with her team to win a gold medal during these Olympic games. She competes against Ming Cheng tomorrow in the Women’s Individual Event. For the woman who trained Katniss, this should be no problem.
And fortunately for the United States Archery Team, they won’t have to fight each other to the death in a televised free-for-all, and . . . the U.S. has already won a silver medal in the men’s archery event. Though no doubt a cornucopia o’death would make any Olympic event that much more of a nail-biter. Or some tracker jackers. I bet the athletes would run, swim, and vault a bit quicker with a swarm of those on their tails.
Hunger Games will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on August 18.
