New art has been revealed for the Starz smash hit Spartacus. The image shows the title hero preparing to lead his army against the Romans, who in this final season are led by none other than Julius Caesar.
The upcoming season, titled “War of the Damned” premieres on Friday, January 25th at 9pm ET/PT. The ending of the series comes in spite of its success on Starz, as well as the show being recently nominated for a People’s Choice Award and selected as one of TV Guide’s Fan Favorites. The production has not been a smooth one, however, with the original lead actor Andy Whitfield’s untimely and sad death.
But rejoice! Remove sadness from your eyes and look towards brighter future. Deadline recently reported that preliminary talks are taking place to develop a new series based on Gaius Julius Caesar, who is the Big Bad of “War of the Damned.” Todd Lasance plays the ruler who must beware the Ides of March, and if a new series does spin off from Spartacus, it’s likely he would reprise the role.
But wasn’t there already a show about Caesar? Called Rome? Honestly, I watched the first season and I barely remember it. Still, Spartacus has been a great series, and if executive producer Robert Tapert is involved, then I expect we will be entertained.
