Well, this is news I most certainly did not expect to hear this morning! Deadline Hollywood reports that Chritopher Nolan has agreed to take the reigns of Warner Bro’s seemingly unnecessary Superman reboot. Although it seems that Christopher Nolan will not be offering his writing or directing talents to the production, he will be involved in shaping the vision of the film along with its creative team. I can only hope this means that DC is taking its film properties more seriously and will open up the possibility of hiring a brain trust like Favreau did with Iron Man, gathering the best comic writers of any given property to oversee the story process.
Now, I know a lot of you are thinking, “Nolan, who gives a shit about Superman, give us Batman 3 already!” Well, I agree, I would love to see him get to work on that as well, but the thought of him overseeing production on the new Superman reboot only gives me more hope that one day we might see an adaptation of Frank Millers Dark Knight Returns. If Christopher Nolan, now the mastermind behind DC/Warner’s 2 biggest properties can pepper some little goodies into the Superman AND Batman films to shape that story arc–? Well, you’ll see a lot of happy nerds out there, myself included.
Personally, I’m excited to get more details.
