Unrated Cut of “The Wolverine” Coming to Blu-Ray

Fans of Wolverine have been vocal about wanting to see a more brutal and violent version of the character that matches up to his persona in the comic books. Unfortunately for them, aside from an excellent video game a few years back, Logan has stayed in the relatively safe PG-13 zone on the big and small screen.

All that will change on December 3rd when the uncut version of “The Wolverine” will be released on blu-ray, but only on one version, so follow along so we can explain which is the right one to get.

Uncut

The unrated copy of the film will ONLY be available in the 3D blu-ray deluxe combo pack, which is pictured above; that’s it. If you pick up the standard blu-ray or DVD, all you will get is the theatrical cut.

While I would have preferred they release it across the spectrum, it does make business sense to make consumers shell out a premium price for the extra content. This version does have all the cool extra features as well, so if you want all the behind the scenes footage and the director’s commentary, this would be the one you’d want to buy anyway. Unfortunately this was one of the worse movies I have ever seen in 3D, so having to fork over more money for a disc that will never even be put into my PS3 is kind of annoying. It’s too bad they didn’t do a special version instead that came with a book, action figure or something cool like that.

What do you think? Is an unrated version of the film enough to make you throw down the extra cash for the deluxe set, or will you be content with just getting the theatrical release?
