Stephen & Stephen Want to do a Blade Spin-off!

Late last year, Stephen Dorff commented that he would love to return to the Blade universe in the form of a prequel trilogy focusing on Deacon Frost, the villain from the first Blade movie. Apparently, he really liked the character and wanted to do more with the him.

Now, flash forward several months and the other Stephen involved with Blade, Director Stephen Norrington (who has been pretty damn quiet since his flop, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen), is saying that the gears are turning for a Blade prequel trilogy.

The director credits Dorff with coming up with the idea for the new project, which “has evolved into a very interesting story.”

While that evolution may have carried it away from the source material, Norrington tells us the film is definitely envisioned as part of the existing mythology. “The linkage to ‘Blade’ is still big in the equation.”

Presently Dorff is occupied filming Sofia Coppola’s ‘Somewhere’. Earlier this year, the actor starred in the comic-based TV mini-series ‘XIII’. He can be seen on screen now in ‘Public Enemies’.

Norrington’s attention is focused on ‘The Crow’, so the purported ‘Blade’ spinoff would be several years away.

I was never a huge fan of the Blade series, but I actually found the third one to be the most enjoyable, which most disagree with. Regardless of which of the original Blade trilogy is your favorite, does anyone think that this is actually a good idea that could be successful?…
