20th Century Fox has revealed a new photo from the upcoming “X-Men: Days of Future Past”, set to hit theaters on May 23rd, and in it we get our first look at Pietro Maximoff aka Quicksilver, portrayed by Evan Peters!

In case you’re unsure as to which character in this photo is Quicksilver, he’s the one in the silver jacket, silver shoes with baby blue laces, and with silver hair. Of course, flanking either side of Maximoff is (from left to right) Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), Magneto (Michael Fassbender), and Professor Xavier (James McAvoy).
Bryan Singer’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past” is rumored to reconcile a lot of the continuity issues between the first three “X-Men” films and “X-Men: First Class”, so not only will this film include many characters from these four films, but also a lot of new characters as well. While the sheer number of characters set to appear in this film has me a little concerned, I am still very much looking forward to what “Days of Future Past” has in store for us and how it will handle reconciling all of these films.
So let’s talk a little about Quicksilver. First off, this character will not only be appearing in “X-Men: Days of Future Past” but also “The Avengers: Age of Ultron”, albeit portrayed by different actors and in no way linking the two franchises. The character in this X-Men film is Pietro Maximoff, traditionally Magneto’s son in the comics, but there is no word on if that will be the case in this film, nor exactly how big of a role the character will play; will he be a major player, or little more than an extended cameo? Of all the new characters from the X-Men comic cast of characters set to make their big screen debut this May, Quicksilver is one that has the potential to make a pretty big impact to this universe and characters.
Quicksilver’s costume in this photo is less than impressive to me. The silver hair is of course fine as it stays true to the character’s classic look, but the silver jacket and those sneakers? Not exactly what I was picturing. However, more important than how the character looks is how he is portrayed, and we will have to wait until May to see what Evan Peters and Bryan Singer have in store for us with Maximoff.
