Last week, the internet blew up when “sources confirmed” that Bryan Cranston had signed to play Superman’s enemy not only in the Superman/Batman movie, but in a total of six DC films. Due to the fact that the sites reporting it were basing it off one very dubious source, I declined to report on it, and it turns out that was the wise thing to do.
In an interview with boston.com, the actor said, at this point, he will not have anything to do with the upcoming sequel to Man of Steel:
I’ve heard that too … Six? This is all news to me. I think that maybe my name is bandied about because I’m known to be bald. ‘What bald guy can we get?’ The reality is they can take any actor and shave his head or put a bald cap on him.
Trust me, nothing would please me more than seeing the actor take the role, but the fact of the matter is, there was nothing to go on regarding this story other than some wishful dream casting based on an offhand comment he made about wanting to play as Lex Luthor.
As far as what he has going on in the near future?
I think I’ll relax the rest of the year. There’s some irons in the fire, things that people are talking about, but nothing is set.
