Box Office Report

All 3 movies that opened in wide release over the weekend placed in the top 10. However, they varied widely. “The LEGO Movie” destroyed everything else while “The Monuments Men” did a respectable $22 million despite poor reviews, you can read ours here, and “Vampire Academy” bombed at $4.1 million. “The LEGO Movie” is one of the all time highest February releases and is on track to hit that magic $200 million number pretty easily. Let’s break it down.

  1. The LEGO Movie: $69.1 million and an audience 59% over 18. Interesting.
  2. The Monuments Men: $22.7 million which is Clooney’s best directorial debut.
  3. Ride Along: $9.3 million and now over $100 million total.
  4. Frozen: Down to $6.9 million with a total of $368 million. 
  5. That Awkward Moment: A 36% drop to $5.5 million.
