Sunday Funnies: 07/05/2015

Growing up I always looked forward to the Sunday newspaper. Like most kids I wasn’t interested in current events and was happy to leave the bulk of morning’s delivery to my parents. I was interested in one thing only, the funnies. Like many of you, I no longer subscribe to a newspaper, but I do have an internet connection, so the sacred ritual of Sunday funnies lives on. This week we’re featuring strips from…

Extra Fabulous Comics

This one made the cut this week simply because it was the first one of the search to make me laugh. Plus it has a Shyamalanian twist.

..

Übertool

I like the idea of God being prone to slip ups, it would explain a lot. So there you go.

..

Disco Slick

Because Independence Day.

..

Homemade Comic Strips

This one isn’t the strongest in either art or content but it provided a minor chuckle and I couldn’t stop staring at it wondering what’s going on with their bodies. Are they floating half-people, like genies but without the whisp? Or are they scraping along on the sidewalk with the spines exposed? I can’t tell, and I want you guys to help me figure it out.

..

Tubey Toons

I loved this movie. Pixar at its finest. I like the idea of subverting it, and the recognition that unless Inside Out is based in some universe where mental disease doesn’t exist, these people are out there. Poor Phyllis.

..

Malcontent

“So sad, so true.” -Ursula the Sea Witch.

..

Ninja & Pirate

The ending of this one isn’t super strong, it had a good gag going and it feels wasted on the English degree joke. But I liked all the literary drink names, I’d go to this bar.

..

The DaneMen

I saved my favorite for last. I don’t know why this appealed to me so much, the simplicity of the gag, the art, the Chaplinesque delivery… I don’t know, but I love it.
