More News About the DC Shake-Ups

I promised to write more about this if I found out about it and, lo, more has been uncovered. (If you don’t know what the hell I’m talking about, then go back and read this post for context.)

From what I’ve read and pieced together from that generally unreliable thing we know as “The Internets”, more than a few people, with and without insider info, are saying that DC comics is headed for an editorial meltdown. Between the Chuck Dixon firing and the Final Crisis not making any sense or sales fiasco, DC is in a world of trouble. Sales for all their books is circling the drain and something needs to happen.

i09 has this piece of news, they’re reporting rampant rumours of Executive Editor Dan Didio’s imminent departure from DC, a move a number of DC faithful I’ve spoken to recently feel has been long overdue. Everyone, myself included, feels that, while Didio might be a nice and amiable guy, he’s not doing DC comics any favors.

Who is the name being thrown out to replace him? None other than Jimmy Palmiotti.

This could be a good thing and it could be a bad thing. One thing is for sure though, looking at the sales figures, things at DC couldn’t be getting any worse.

I’ll be back tomorrow with analysis on why there couldn’t be a worse time for Grant Morrison to be writing Batman R.I.P.
