GONK gets the latest from Dirk Wood of IDW Publishing on some of their big announcements at Comic Con, including My Little Pony, Zach Howard’s Wild Blue Yonder, and more!
IDW Publishing is probably known most for 30 Days of Night and Locke and Key, and quite a few media tie-in comics titles, including Star Trek, G.I. Joe, Transformers, Doctor Who, and True Blood. Comic Con International was a busy time for them, with several big announcements, and I was fortunate enough to catch up with my inside man, Dirk Wood, director of retail marketing.
Key announcements:
- Got the license for My Little Pony comics – team not yet announced
- Wild Blue Yonder by Zach Howard
- Judge Dredd – creative team: the original creators Duane Swierczynski and Nelson Daniel, with backup stories done by others including Paul Gulacy
- New Artist Edition art books coming up: MAD magazine, Xenozoic Tales, Gil Kane’s Spider-Man
- A new book by J. M. DeMatteis: The Adventures of August Wind
- Kevin Eastman’s return to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for an annual, and also there will be a mini-series about the Foot Clan
- Transformers: Monstrosity will be a follow-up to Transformers: Autocracy digital comic, and Rage of the Dinobots in the Transformers Prime series.
- Brannon Braga and Joe Corroney will be creating Star Trek: The Next Generation – Hive
