Last month I was very fortunate to be involved in the Nerd Machine production “Trailer Park Heroes,” a project headed up by Zachary Levi (from NBC’s Chuck). It was an amazing experience in which Ticelli Bot and I both got to be cosplayer “crazies” coming after the residents of the fictional “Last Resort Trailer Park” just outside of San Diego. Although there are some stunt doubles involved in this production, most of the “cosplay creatures” are actually real cosplayers from the SoCal area. It was definitely the most fun I’ve had in cosplay!

Cosplay creatures run amok and terrorize a trailer park outside of San Diego during Comic-Con International. Can our heroes save the day (and themselves) or will they get eaten alive by a nightmare menagerie of bad guys? Starring Zac Levi, Adam Baldwin, Joel Moore, Jason Biggs, and Aly Michalka. Stay tuned for new episodes leading up to Nerd Machine HQ www.break.com/nerdhq live from San Diego 7-12-7/15.
Parts two and three should be out soon as well, and I’m looking forward to see some of the other scenes I got to be a part of. I had brought two costumes with me (My Kaylee/Firefly costume and my Harajuku Gothic Lolita kimono), so I got to be involved in some really fun scenes that I hope make it into the final production. Insider tip: I can’t say who…but I can tell you that there are even more great celebs coming up in the next two installments of “Trailer Park Heroes!”
Lastly, I wanted to say a few things about the experience of working on the set and share some photos. The weekend, overall, was simply incredible. The people involved in making this production happen (Zachary Levi, the director, the actors, and the crew) were very professional, fun, and amazing to work with. I also want to note that Zachary Levi really worked hard on many aspects of this production – I consistently saw him helping other crew members (at one point I saw him holding a fan to make wind in a particular scene.). He also took the time to sincerely thank everyone that worked on the project, and for that I think he deserves big props. Something that was big for me personally was that the all of the cast members were very cool about taking photos with the extras and chatting with them throughout the weekend. It was lots of fun!
Look out! The cosplay creatures are coming! (I’m in the front, slightly left from the center as Kaylee (Firefly). Ticelli Bot is in the tan trench coat on the far left as Detective Gumshoe (Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney)).
From left to right: fellow cosplayer Jessica (as Belle), Adam Baldwin, and myself (as Kaylee)
