Batman-Superman Movie Delayed Until 2016

UPDATE: Some people have been asking about the reasoning behind the delay, and rumors have been running rampant online from everything that Ben Affleck suffered an injury to Justice League is being filmed back to back with it. At this time, all we really have is what was in the press release:

Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that the release of Zack Snyder’s untitled Superman/Batman film has been moved to May 6, 2016, allowing the filmmakers time to realize fully their vision, given the complex visual nature of the story. The decision was made following the shift of the start of production to second quarter of this year.

ORIGINAL ARTICLE: According to The Hollywood Reporter, fans looking forward to seeing the Batman-Superman battle and probable team-up are going to have to wait a bit longer — 10 months longer to be exact as its new release date is now slated for May 6, 2016.

Big name movie delays are hardly anything new as Star Wars Episode VII was also pushed back from summer of 2015 to the winter. And while it’s frustrating for the fans to have wait that much longer for something they are really excited for, this is normally a good thing as it allows the creators to have more time to fine tune and hopefully perfect their final product.

What’s more intriguing is not only does this now coincide with Free Comic Book Day, it will also share a release date with an, as of yet, unnamed Marvel movie. Considering how huge these two rivals and their IPs are, the more interesting part of these movies may not be the battle that plays out on screen but instead among moviegoers and the box office.

We’ll keep you posted as we get more info, but in the meantime, let us know what you think about this delay and what you think will happen when DC and Marvel go head to head at the box office!
