For those of you who don’t know, “NetHeads” is a podcast produced under the “Smodcast” banner as part of Kevin Smith’s audio empire. It is also hosted by Utah’s own Trent Hunsaker; legend, beard aficionado, and all around excellent guy, as well as Will Wilkins; tech nerd, Google glass pioneer, and high quality human being. The pair get together every Sunday to give us a dose of their own brand of audio entertainment and it’s always a good time.
Earlier this year at Salt Lake Comic Con’s Fan Experience, Will and Trent came to town to do the show live and had such a good time they figured they’d do it again during the recent Comic Con just over a week ago. The pod was scheduled for Saturday at 7:00 p.m. Mountain Standard Time but due to unforeseen circumstances of the microscopic variety, Will wasn’t able to make the trip.
Will’s misfortune however, provided an opportunity for me and fellow bot, Mark (Zendobot) when Hunsaker asked if we would be interested in filling in for Will on the podcast. It took about .2 seconds to answer an emphatic yes, because duh, thus began the chain of events that would culminate in the highlight of the convention for me.
I’d like to take this opportunity to clear up any rumors regarding a voodoo ceremony resulting in Will’s illness and publicly state that I wish him well and hope that he is recovering smoothly. Any tiny Glass wearing dolls and dirty tissues I may or may not have been carrying around on Friday was pure coincidence.
We joined Hunsaker for the recording in the Jeff Michael Vice Memorial Podcast Theater along with Steve Kent just before 7PM, what followed was an hour of beards, beer, and bad behavior dubbed “Not NetHeads. The audio is available on the “A Part of Him Podcast Network.”
