Matt Fraction and Kelly Sue DeConnick to Adapt ‘Sex Criminals’ for TV

Cool comics power couple and my future adoptive parents Kelly Sue Deconnick and Matt Fraction have taken the next and best possible step any comic creator could take: translating their creations into television shows. The beautiful duo has signed a deal with Universal TV, making dreams of presenting creations like “Pretty Deadly,” “ODY-C,” and “Bitch Planet” in episodic series on the small screen a reality. Their company, Milkfed Criminal Masterminds, will bring their own and other independent creator’s content to our screens.

EVP of Universal TV Bela Bajaria said, “We’re always excited to usher in fresh voices to the television space, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to partner with Matt and Kelly Sue, a fantastic pair whose award-winning comics are as deeply realized as they are entertaining.”

Under the new deal, the duo will begin the foray into tv land with an adaptation of Fraction’s and Chip Zdarsky’s (illustrator/all around dope fella) Sex Criminals, the Eisner Award winning comic about a couple who stop time with their orgasms. And they rob banks. And there is a whole organization of people with the same ability who must keep hooligans like the protagonist couple in line. It’s a whole thing. Did I mention it’s won all the awards?

While we won’t see titles like Captain Marvel and Hawkeye produced by Milkfed Criminal Masterminds, hopefully we will see an incarnation of Pretty Deadly (DeConnick’s poetic and haunting western-style tale) or Satellite Sam, a tale of a murder investigation that takes place behind the scenes of a children’s television program. I suggest if you haven’t read any of either writer’s publications, please do yourself a favor and immerse yourself into their combined genius.
