‘Unravel’ is Hauntingly Beautiful at E3 2015

Inspired by gorgeous Scandinavian countryside, ‘Unravel‘ looks absolutely adorable and yet hauntingly beautiful at the same time. It’s rare that I see a game that’s managed to strike such a powerful chord with such lively, lush environments and an adorable yet relatable protagonist named Yarny. Made of just a single strand of red, wooly yarn, Yarny appears to be a platforming protagonist that will allow you to explore the environments in some pretty clever ways!

From Sweden’s Coldwood Interactive and Creative Director Martin Sahlin, Unravel will explore both friendly and dangerous environments by utilizing your own body to progress, whether that be by hooking yourself to a boat, swing across gaps, or solve what appear to be some pretty cool puzzles! As for the story, their website tells us that “the tale is told completely without words, and Yarny is the bond that ties everything together.” I can’t tell you how excited I am to play what looks like an immersive and wonderful experience!

I always look forward to supporting small studio titles with so much vision and creativity, so I am throwing my hat in for a pre-order recommendation and high hopes that this game soars when it releases!

“I wanted to make something more personal, something with more impact. The game didn’t have to change the world, or even try, but it had to be genuine, it had to have a deeper meaning. It had to have heart.” – Martin Sahlin, Creative Director, Coldwood Interactive.
