Go Go Gadget: Electronic Tattoo

There has got to be a Sci-Fi movie about this somewhere. At the recent Greener Gadgets Design Competition an engineer named Jim Mielke demonstrated this amazing piece of technology. A tightly rolled unit is inserted under your skin where it unfurls into a full display and is attached to an artery and vein to allow the blood to flow through and power it. Once connected tiny spheres create the display which looks like tattoo ink but can be turned off so you don’t have to worry about constantly having a cell phone tattooed on your forearm. It might be really strange and awkward to have it ring and a video of your girlfriend show up whilst in a meeting.

This product could be revolutionary. I don’t think a cell phone is the best use of it either but if that’s what people want to use it for that’s great. The system constantly monitors your blood for diseases and I imagine it’s a small step to monitor it for glucose and help diabetics who have to check their blood multiple times a day. The unit uses Bluetooth to connect so it could also be connected to other devices which could make the usability grow even more. It’s a concept and not an actually product but in the future there could definitely be uses for this. Check  Physorg.com for more details
