Finally, a trailer that gives us a little bit of insight into what the new Christopher Nolan film, Interstellar, is about. And boy is it a doozy. Nolan isn’t quite the secrecy nut that JJ Abram is, but he isn’t super talkative about his projects either. It is nice to see that he is still laboring in the hot, sweaty field of big ideas and hard-ish science. There has been a lot of chatter about how his movies tend to lack emotional depth in exchange for intellectual depth, but I would have to disagree. I think there is an argument to be made that Inception was all about diving deep emotionally, while The Dark Knight was about that tension that occurs between intellect and visceral emotion. The Dark Knight Rises was about 30 minutes too long.
Interstellar opens in the US on November 7, 2014 and stars Matthew McConauhey, Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway, and Michael Caine. Written by Jonathan and Christopher Nolan, music by Hans Zimmer.
