Don’t click on a Facebook link that says he is. Or a link in Twitter. It’s a new, nasty virus. Even prominent websites have had their Twitter feeds hijacked by this new virus, which seems to be even more powerful than tiger’s blood.

We haven’t talked much about Sheen, etc, and I think we’ll keep it that way, but this is a quick public service announcement to not click on stuff on Facebook.

Spread this around so people get innoculated. That, I believe, is what we refer to as #Winning.

The dangerous posts, which have also popped up on Twitter, typically start, “Exclusive Video,” “RIP!” or “Breaking News.” They go on to say “Charlie Sheen found Dead at his House” or some variation and include a link to a site that appears to be fueling the rumor.

Big tech website ZDNet got hacked by the scam, even, tweeting out a link.  Their further reporting on this included:

Just like the previous “likejacking” scams (a play on the term clickjacking, which means prompting a victim to click something while a different action is taken behind the scenes) any of the above will lead you to a fake YouTube page such as TouTube or FbTube. Clicking on play prompts you with the following message: “Please complete a 30 second survey to verify that you are human.”

How can you be sure Sheen isn’t dead? Well, he’s still tweeting, and supposedly new video coming soon. I’m not going to link to it. I’m not going to enable it. Because I’m suggesting you should not pay more attention to this madman. But if you need to indulge your sick curiosity or morbid fascination with watching the human equivalent of a train wreck, by all means indulge. BSR will still be here when you get back.

So, be careful what you click, and always use protection when dealing with an untrusted website. Also don’t click on that link saying it’s the video that made me lose all respect for Miley Cyrus. Also a scam/virus. How can you tell? I don’t think anyone ever had respect for her in the first place.
