I love the digital only comic book “The Private Eye” from Panel Syndicate. Over the last two years I’ve done my best to get you to read it and take part in the amazing storytelling by Eisner award winners. Today is the day that everyone who passed on the book- despite my highest recommendation – will boldly download every issue and binge read the entire series. I write this with confidence because the final issue, #10, released just a few hours ago on panelsyndicate.com. Just to reiterate, Eisner winner and “Saga” writer Brian K. Vaughn has worked on 10 issues of the series with Eisner winner and Marvel Comics star Marcos Martin along with internationally famed artist and colorist Munsta Vicente to create a digital only sequential art masterpiece.
The end of the series is bittersweet for me and many other long time readers because the story is over but Panel Syndicate will continue and the creators of “The Private Eye” are also going to have a new book coming out soon. My hope is that the site will become what Mark Waid’s Thrillbent site now is. In the final issues Afterword Vaughn talks about the experience of being so close to readers and that it was a wonderful thing for all of the creators involved. In fact, the book has been translated into numerous languages by volunteering fans. That doesn’t happen with just any comic book and it only happened with this one because of passionate fans and a passionate group of creators.
Here are a few preview pages and the final cover. Go download it for “pay whatever you’d like” and then read it now.
