Walt Flanagan has been some sort of geek icon for almost as long as I can remember the culture of geekdom. As a frequent bit player in Kevin Smith’s films (4 roles in “Clerks” alone), he’s added so much more geek cred to his resume than one could imagine. He’s drawn Batman comics (that I quite liked), he’s a big league podcaster on Kevin Smith’s Smodcast network, he runs one of the premiere comic book stores in the country, and he’s the star of AMC’s Comic Book Men.
When I had the opportunity to speak to him about the new season of Comic Book Men, I asked if it would be all right if we talked about Star Wars and other geek issues as well, and the following episode of Full of Sith is what it culminated in:
Walt and I spoke about Star Wars, Comic Book Men, Batman comics, and geek culture in general. He also gave some comic book recommendations (starting with Scott Snyder’s Batman and moving down from there.)
It was a great interview and I hope you give it a listen.
Comic Book Men is currently airing on AMC, and he gave a preview of some things to expect in the coming weeks as well.
Be sure to check out Full of Sith for all the latest Star Wars conversations I’m having with people.
